Wednesday October 5, 2016

This morning after the assembly, Shylah led us in our calendar activities and we talked about how we need to start wearing more layers to school now that it is chillier in the mornings.
We continued our patterning and sorting unit in Math, again starting with a whole group lesson on the carpet.  Students identified pattern cores and have started representing the core with words, numbers and letters.  Students then worked collaboratively to extend patterns and sort apples using two attributes.
Students then enjoyed snack, sharing and recess.
During story time, I read aloud “The Plump and Perky Turkey”.  The students have really enjoyed the running theme of our Thanksgiving books thus far…the turkeys always escape just in time!
While I completed DRAs with individual students, the class worked on their next 3 letters in their penmanship packages.
We had an early lunch and wished Grace and Charlotte good luck at the cross country meet!

After lunch, students worked on various themed phonics activities and made a Thanksgiving craft!
Have a great evening!
