Good afternoon parents!
Another fun and busy day in grade 1/2.
We started the day with our morning assembly and then came back to class to continue our morning routine with agendas and then our calendar activities.
During math, the whole class again practised counting to 100 by 10s, 5s, and 2s. They have already improved in the “tricky” counting by 2s since Friday! The blue group had a lesson and activities on completing partial number lines. They learned and implemented various strategies including; looking for clues in the number(s) before and after. The orange group worked to count items and record the amounts as numerals and number words.
During snack, we had time for sharing before recess!
I read aloud “Franklin Wants a Pet” and we discussed the responsibilities involved in taking care of a pet.
Students then began their individual DRAs.
After lunch, students had gym and drama with Mr. Hunt. During last period, students began their phonics activities (individualized lessons included; recognizing beginning, middle and ending sounds as well as identifying vowel sounds).
Before we knew it, it was time to write in agendas and pack up!
Have a great night!
