Good afternoon parents,
A three-day week is the perfect fit for the first week back! We had another busy and fun day of learning. This morning after our assembly and daily agenda check, Kate led us in our calendar songs and activities.
We then met on the carpet to review and sign our Classroom Essential Agreements. The students had thoughtful and insightful ideas and they were all included in our final copy.
We then continued with our recipe booklets for a great school year. This activity involves many skills including; printing (grade 1)/cursive (for grade 2), cutting, pasting, time management, sequencing and a degree of independence.
It was then time for snack and recess. We eat morning snack together inside. If students are hungry at the 2:00 recess, they take a snack with them outside. In the case of inclement weather, students who wish to have snack will be given the opportunity to have their snacks inside.
After recess, I read aloud “Franklin’s New Friend”.
We then continued our activities from yesterday’s book “Miss Nelson is Missing”. Today, students brainstormed characteristics of Miss Viola Swamp and then completed Wanted Posters to help Detective McSmogg.
Upon completion, students were given the choice to either read independently or to play “Big Box Sentence Building”.
Following lunch and recess, students worked on a journal entitled “My first week of school was great because…”.
At the end of the day, students had some time to play board games with their classmates.
Thanks for a great first week back!
Have a fantastic weekend!
