Good afternoon parents,
This morning after our assembly and calendar activities, we jumped right into our Unit of Inquiry, continuing with Traditions and Cultures. Students explored celebrations related to the Chinese New Year including; The Moon Festival and The Lady Bug Festival as outlined during two episodes of Ni Hao Kai Lan. There were many excellent facts discussed in the brainstorm following including those relating to; decorations, food, clothing and significance of colours (red and gold especially) and animals (specifically dragons).
During math, students completed word problems in multiple choice format (a new concept) with relation to the months of the year and days of the week.
After snack and recess, students worked on completing individualized phonics activities and then work with weekly list words.
Following lunch and recess, students had a gym class and a drama class with Mr. Hunt.
After last recess, students completed their journals on cultural and traditional festivals.
Reminders: library is postponed to Thursday
Please return permission forms tomorrow for the trip to SJA
